When you can’t find a pattern, make it up

I’ve been itching to make these bootcuffs I found for my new boots.
But, I tried the pattern this weekend and frankly, I don’t like the cables and they are far too big for me. The cables are huge and squirrely, not tight and knotted looking like I like. So I’m determined to create my very own pattern. I found the perfect boot cuffs, but they are for sale, not the pattern AND even if they were, I don’t crochet.
So I’m experimenting with several different ribbings and body patterns. I even created a pin board just for this! You can see my ideas here. Check back as I make this work!

Here are my ideas so far:

K3, P1 rib for three inches and then 1 on the top
and for the body here’s my thoughts: I’m still searching!

Basket Cable
Checkerboard lace

Weaved Cable

Moss Stitch

Oh and here’s a great video I found for cabling without a cable needle. This will be great for that weaved cable.
