If you follow me on Instagram (@fryxie) you’ve probably noticed an uptick in pictures of clothes I make (and fewer pictures of Floaty McFloatface the balloon- may it rest in peace). I’m in a zillion Facebook sewing groups and have SO MANY PATTERNS (that’ll be an entirely other post) and a passion for hoarding fabric. Well, I came across a post on a blog called “Goodbye Valentino” where she challenges people to only sew their own clothes, no buying anything ready to wear (RTW). Well folks… it is time… to do something crazy
(If you’ve never seen Mike and Dave need wedding dates, you need to. Also, this song is in it).
Anyways, here’s the crazy thing. I’m doing it. I’m joining the 2018 Goodbye Valentino No Ready to Wear Challenge AND I’m going to try to do it with only patterns I own. I’m going to attempt to sew as many of my patterns as I can (but let’s be honest, I have over 200 and there are only so many days in the year and I have a toddler). I’m going to not only blog about my progress with Goodbye Valentino’s challenge, but also reviews of all my patterns, this will include clothes for Lincoln (currently 16mo), occasional clothes for Mike (currently 34 years- ha!) and myself. Since I don’t have a little girl to sew for, my bestie, Tara, may pop in every so often to do a review of her patterns for little ladies because she has two!
Couple of disclaimers: all of the patterns I’ve either purchased or won. I will not be reviewing any patterns that I have been given by a designer to review. I’ll gladly take fabric donations, though. 🙂
I’ll be sure to link each pattern and the fabric (if I can remember where I got it).
Who’s excited? I’m excited? Let’s get to sewing! Here’s some of the pieces I’ve made in the last few months.
