Birthdays don’t normally freak me out. 28 did because that was the age my mom had me and I wasn’t even married yet. 30 is because, hell, it is thirty. My grandpa was 29 until the day he died, which was super confusing to me as a child. My husband normally calls me “old balls” for the three months I’m older than him–he’s been instructed not to do that this year.
Next Wednesday will be 30 weekdays until I turn 30. The big 3-0 hits on July 10 and I’m starting to freak out. If you know me, you know I love to be in control (at least I can admit it). So I’m giving myself a challenge to take control and own the big 3-0.
Mike was getting a little on edge finding nail polish all over the house, in various bags, in various shades of red. I’m notorious for holding up three different pinks and asking him to pick one, to which he gives me a quizzical “uh, those are different look.” Hell, I even have a monthly nail polish budget. So finally I picked up all my polish at put it behind the door in my craftroom in a shoe bag thinger. Which made me realize… “oooh look how many more polishes I can fit in this thing!” Not what Mike wanted to hear.
I thought I didn’t pin that much this week. Then I looked at the numbers and noticed I added nearly 100 pins. Whoops. Anywhoo, this week went pretty quick, I had a lot of work to do and we were planning our meals for the next few weeks. I’m a skinnytaste addict and ALL of our dinners for the next few weeks come from skinnytaste.
Have no fear! The Friday Pin FAIL is back.
This weeks pin count:
58 Boards (I added Tattoo for Me?)
As I’m striving everyday to be BeYOUtiful
I think I’ve finally come up with the makeup routine that works for ME. That’s really an important point of this journey, btw. You need to find the makeup routine that makes YOU feel BeYOUtiful, that makes you feel like the best you, that makes you feel happiest. I used to make myself up to make everyone else happy, or at least that’s what I thought I was doing. But really, I was turning myself into the clown version of myself.
I could walk out the door with just concealer and mascara. Hell, I could walk out without any makeup at all. But I wouldn’t feel like me. You’ve heard “put the best foot forward.” Well, I would like to put my best face forward. Confidence comes from within and being happy with your outward appearance let’s the good stuff inside shine through (or is that luminizer?) Continue reading →
I felt very in need of inspiration this week and a good laugh. It just seemed like a tough week for everyone for some reason.
I started a new board entitled “Country Summer” because Mike wants to live a more relaxed summer, like I was used to when I lived in Nashville. Speaking of Nashville! Happy Graduation Day to the Vanderbilt Class of 2013! Go Dores!!
This weeks pin count:
57 Boards (I added “Country Summer“)
When I was 5, and my first tooth was about to come out, I freaked out when Mom and Dad tried to pull it out and screamed “I WANT A PROFESSIONAL!” My mother has teased me with that statement every sense and, frankly, it still holds true.
So when I found out from Nicole Toledo at Nordstrom Park Meadows during my concealer quest that the Beauty Trend Show was coming I signed up immediately. I called my amazing sister-in-law Vanessa and told her about it. She was totally in too. So on Saturday we Trend Showed it UP!
Here’s what a trend show is: “Industry insiders reveal the latest trends, tricks, and tips. Get a consultation full of DIY tips, plus score an exclusive Nordstrom tote bag…” That tote bag is UBER CUTE by the way, and was FILLED with goodies. Continue reading →
